Saint George Island
Arrived yesterday, a wonderful State Park on the East end of a barrier island. The park takes up about 7 miles so there are miles of open beach and “sugar sand” . It's white and much finer than the real sand at home. The Great Blue Herons are in vacation mode here. They don't mind people all that much. The one pictured was on the beach and was hanging around some surf fishermen. He allowed me to get within 20 feet of him for his portrait. We stopped at the Pig (Piggly Wiggly food store) on our way through Apalachicola yesterday. Crossing the parking lot we intersected an older gentleman, slowly pushing a shopping cart containing large tub, towards to door. As I let him go ahead of me ,I looked in the tub....100# of ribs, fresh out of the smoker....I think we will be eating ribs for several days....The beach picture is of the bay side and completely different from the Gulf side...We'll be here at least 4 days.
We are learning the ins and outs of the senior RV subculture. What a hoot.

We're meeting the nicest people, from all over the country. Yesterday was a couple from California, headed for Key West for Key Lime pie...No other reason, just Key Lime pie. We put out the flamingo for the first time yesterday. Next it will be the party lights on the awning. Pets are the norm, usually a small dog. (and that's not going to happen) We saw a camper ID sign the other day John, Martha and Skippy. For some reason skippy just cracks us up. Next time we pass through civilization I'm going to get a dog dish and paint Skippy on it, to put in front of the RV....”No we don't have a dog, just the dish”...Our actual cat is traveling very well. She lives under the couch and we only see her about twice a day and only when we're stopped.
