Q 9

Saturday night we had fun, using up frozen leftovers from Thanksgiving, which got me to thinking. and if you know me, that can be a very questionable thing....Anyway...

As self appointed, benevolent emperor in waiting, I have decided that Thursday, April 2 will be designated as
            Thanksgiving Deux, the quarantine edition.
This is how it works.  Plan out a (traditional) Thanksgiving dinner, using only what you have on hand. If it sounds edible, actually make it up and celebrate...and there are things worth celebrating. Common, everyday things that we never think of. Family, friends, all things natural.

Here is the fun part.  Create a  virtual menu and post it in the comments section below. The celebrity judge and I will sort through the entries and repost the best ones in the body of the blog. Extra credit for the use of garlic, real butter, bacon fat and heavy cream. Points will be deducted for using anything drizzled, or edible flowers.  Dandelion greens are fine if they are from your yard.  The required beverage for you repast is the new Quarintini. (Whatever you have on hand, but in a martini glass)
A major award may be in your future...

Bird and Bently will be the Celebrity Judges
    ( a fowl choice, I know}

    Tom... from Thanksgivings past

To get you started here are a few sample ideas...

            Baked Redneck
a waffle or pancake, topped with ice cream. the whole thing covered with marshmallow fluff,(or cool whip) a dollop of strawberry jam for color, and flame the whole thing with brandy.
           Entree
Fried turkey burger, grits w/ bacon bits and           cheese, dandelion greens, diced eggos with gravy.
As a relish, strawberry jam can be substituted for cranberry sauce, if you don't live close to a bog.
   Have fun,  Jay

  Good Morning,

Stop by tomorrow.  Fun things.  Prizes and silliness.

                      Today we have Spring

Q 7

     Welcome again to CRYSTALNEWS 2
With this format I think that thing will be larger and better looking. Also I'll be posting links to things that I think will be of interest.

below is a series of the Snapping turtle eggs that we incubated and hatched several years ago.  45 out of 70 hatched.  A very educational experience.

The eggs can be moved only within 24 hours of being laid. They orientate up and down, after that, and moving them screws thing up.  We incubated them for 70 days at a specific temp and humidity. thank you internet. We were so fortunate to see the eggs being laid.  It was on a two track so we moved them so the clutch wouldn't be run over or eaten..
